Birthday Flowers, 31 years, and Portraits Under Duress

I had a birthday. Again. It keeps happening, and I guess I’m grateful! I really am though. There’s an awful lot of grace that goes into seeing the passage of another year for me. I’m aware that it is all God.

My oldest presented me with the most beautiful bouquet, and I tried to capture its magnificence as best I could…

In the middle of the week, on April 17th, my dearie and I went to the Olive Garden to celebrate our 31 years of marriage. Recalling who we were then, how we thought about the world and our place in it, compared to where we are now, and all that we have been through and how our family has grown, was a head spinner to say the least. What a gift this journey has been!

This morning I bribed those who were inclined to come along with me on a photo shoot with breakfast at McD’s. They liked that part, but cooperation with the photoshoot was spotty at best. Also, I missed focus on a whole bunch of water play shots and that bummed me out, so really, none of us were in our best frame of mind for the endeavor. Here are the few I thought were successful from the 162 shots I took.
