Easter 2025

Easter 2025

Oh our Easter was a beautiful one! Musically, we were blessed with brass and timpani, a small but mighty choir, and of course our glorious pipe organ. We renewed our baptismal vows, after which the Bishop sprinkled the congregation with holy water, called the asperges. I clipped this vid to the beginning of the vows and about two minutes later you can see me getting an aspergillum-full of holy water in the face. I was dripping with joy!

We had a truly blessed time of fellowship at Grandma’s for the afternoon. As usual, we picked up Ana on the way, and Geneva and Mark arrived shortly after we got there. Then Jeff called to bask in the afterglow of his Traditional Latin Easter Mass, and I navigated for him so he got to Grandma’s in time for the meal. We waited until Laurent arrived, just a few minutes after Jeff, from her two morning masses at the Basilica and then, with great thanksgiving, feasted on ham, wild rice, mashed potatoes, cheesy corn, Caesar salad, antipasto-pasta salad, cheesy garlic bread, carrot cake cupcakes, and cheesecake with strawberry sauce. I managed to photograph precisely none of the repast, because I am bad at being an Instagram food person. But also because I was simply enjoying our time together.

Just look at these beautiful faces. Such blessings, every one of them!
