Getting the Van Back, and a Fun Photo Shoot

Getting the Van Back, and a Fun Photo Shoot

It was a long, long two weeks without the main family transportation. Two plus weeks of Paul having to work daily from home, so he could do all the driving in his truck, which only (legally) seats 5 passengers. We had to attend mass in shifts on the weekends, with Paul attending with a few kids either Saturday evening or at the 7am Spanish mass on Sunday mornings, then racing home to drop them off, and load me, Jacob, and whichever kids hadn’t gone the first time to get back by the 9am start time. Ufda!

The computer part was finally delivered on Thursday, and we got the van back Friday noon, and it was a great relief indeed for me to get out of the house and be back in my driver’s seat.

Unfortunately, I still was not able to make it to mass with the family this week because there were three kids home sick with fevers and tummy bugs. I’m not even sure tonight if two of them will be able to make it to school tomorrow… this bug has been a bad one, hanging on with a fever going on five or six days for Alyssa. Please pray we can kick it out of the house soon!

Monday morning, I was able to drive over to our new Dentist’s office for my first visit to establish care. I love the new office, great and caring staff, and they live up to their name – Glendale Gentle Dentistry! I ended up getting my first cleaning out of the way while I was there, and then got the bad news that one of the crowns I had put in last summer is a dud and has to be replaced. That will be close to $1k. Blurg. But all the other news was terrific – apparently, everything that is under my control is going perfectly! Very delighted to hear that. Once I get that crown fixed I’ll be done for another six months.

After leaving the dentist, I took the van through the car wash, then headed home to meet up with Laurent. We had planned to go downtown today and do an updated photo shoot. Of course, Jacob came along as assistant, pushing my chair and managing the camera bag between locations. Here are the best of the best – which is nearly the entire lot of them! It’s pretty hard to take a bad photo of this woman…

We all had a great time bopping around in the downtown area, and when I was satisfied we’d gotten enough good material, we headed to The Desmond Spirits & Oven for some extremely high class (to my tastes) pizza. We started by sharing an order of Prosciutto Bruschetta, (just try to say that five times fast!) with Ricotta | Fig Jam | Prosciutto | Arugula; I got a Roasted Winter Salad, with Arugula | Pecans | Cranberries | Roasted Butternut Squash | Maple Dijon Vinaigrette; and for our main course, Laurent ordered a Pizza Burrata, with Arugula | Shaved Parmesan | Reggiano | Burrata | Prosciutto and a plate of Truffle Parm Fries to share; Jacob stayed with the Classic Pepperoni with Tomato Sauce | Fresh Mozz; and I chose a Frank White Pie, with Garlic | Ricotta | Shredded Mozz | Parmesan | Virgin Olive Oil, and added sausage. It was a ridiculous amount of food and we brought home four boxes to share with the fam!

What a fun day with two of my favorite people!
