Although Christmas morning began with an emergency that kept Paul away from the festivities all day, we nonetheless were able to celebrate with gratitude at Grandma’s house with most of the family. Jon was here from Oklahoma, along with Joe and Quin and JT who still live here in the valley, and Jadyn came over from Cali as a surprise. We were only missing Jenna and Daniel and their wee new baby, who spent the holiday with Daniel’s family in Alabama. From our side of the valley I was so blessed to be able to say Merry Christmas in person to Megan and Patrick – having all my bio-kids and grandson under one roof for a little while was the best gift of all.
Once again we had the luxury of a sumptuous Prime Rib, prepared to perfection by Jon, and gifted by cousin Lynell. She is the sweetest! Christmas readings were shared by JT, Jeff and Geneva, a meditation by Grandma, and we all got to sing some carols from the Christmas Eve programs I salvaged before leaving the church the night before.
Just a glorious day to revel in family connections, and to contemplate God’s grace. Immensely grateful.
