Park Day

Park Day

Even though I wasn’t feeling too well today, I wanted to make the most of the last Friday of Christmas break, so I invited whomever wished to come along on a park-n-photo-shoot jaunt. Ruben and Ellie were happy to join me, and I made sure to feed them BEFORE we got to the park – makes all the difference in a photo shoot when your subjects aren’t ravenous and cranky!

I tried three parks, each further from home base than the last, before finding one that was both picturesque and not teeming with humanity. We weren’t the only ones making the most of the day!

Of course, I didn’t know how much I could do, but I found out. IT WAS AWESOME! First I found a little out of the way landscape area for some portraits. Then we drove a little ways to the bridge and that meant parking, getting out, walking across a road and up-hill onto the bridge, standing there taking photos and then back again. I detail this because each one of these steps in the process would have been more than I could handle a year ago – even just the standing to take photos part!

Then we drove a little more and found the creek area with some ducks and I let them play around the water while I snapped away, even going down to the water’s edge to get closer to them and the ducks.

Finally I thought I’d better give myself a break so we drove to the playground area and I let them play while I sat in the van to observe while resting. They got lots of exercise and vitamin D, while I sat and reflected on my progress with great satisfaction.

LOVED my Park Day!!
