Way back in 2011 when we had a house fire and had to rebuild and then refurnish our house, I had the joy of picking out brand new living room furniture. It was SO exciting (and stressful) and I expected it would be the last time I would buy new things so I relished every moment. What I had no way of knowing at the time was the toll that the next decade would take on absolutely everything in the house – furniture, paint, closet doors, walls, windows. I have lost count of the number of kids that have sat, fought, chased, jumped, eaten, drunk, spilled and more on those couches. Suffice to say, 13 years of wear and tear and even with boards beneath the seat cushions, the backs were so concave I tried in vain to use a jumble of colorful pillows to keep some level of comfort – they were overdue for replacement.
Enter tax refund money! Despite a long list of possible home repair uses for the windfall, I have been wanting to do this for at least two years, and finally decided it couldn’t wait any longer. So off Paul went to American Furniture Warehouse with Jacob and Tom Truck, and home they came, loaded to the max!
Out with the decrepit couches, out with the mountains of pillows, enter sleek, lower profile, leather sofas that we can wipe clean – I am thrilled and everyone agrees they are so much more comfortable. I went with two full size sofas instead of a couch-loveseat combo since we need the extra seating. I love the way the new room looks! Hopefully this will get us through another decade!
