I have been in a woeful slump creatively for the past couple of months. Maybe more like six months to a year! For however long it’s been, I’ve felt powerless to create because of my ill health and lack of mobility. I can’t go out on photo walks. I can’t hike. I can’t “get the shot” I want when I want it. So I looked longingly at my gear and watched YouTube videos and Instagram photos of what other people were out creating.
I finally said something about it to my husband, and he replied with only a tiny bit of exasperation, “I keep telling you, honey, macro! You should be using that great macro lens of yours!”
Well, that was just the prompt I needed. I got out my EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM and my Canon EOS R6 plus adapter and decided to just start shooting whatever I could see from my desk. Turned out there was plenty of inspiration within arms length!
Here are (some of) the things I can see from my desk:
I expect to be continuing my macro studies for the next while… we learn by doing, so I must do!
