I don’t mind saying there was quite a bit of bother about getting this kid promoted tonight! Well, to be honest, he made it pretty easy what with his stellar grades and all. But Jordan is a guy who knows what he’s about when it comes to his style, and he wanted a certain look for his promotion. I tried, I truly did. I ordered a suit in XS, and Amazon sent an XL. I sent it back, got a refund, and re-ordered the XS. It arrived and was still too large. Men’s XS I thought would fit him, but he’s quite slim so… back to Amazon it went. By that time I thought we’d better just find something here in town. Nope, couldn’t find anything in the time frame we had. So finally I found and ordered a nice black shirt and some bow ties and thought he would be able to make something work with that. And sure enough he did, and looked quite dashing in all black!
It was lovely to see all his classmates up on stage, especially the few that I get to hear about. Favorite teachers handed out Core Virtue awards, including Ms. Shenk; student leaders gave little speeches; the recorder group played beautifully as the class walked the stage. And I thought to myself, I don’t remember looking like these young ladies when I was ending 8th grade… did you?! My how times have changed.
Congratulations on your promotion, Jordan! We are tremendously proud of you. As you begin your high school career in August, we pray that you will seek to grow in all these core virtues as your continue your pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty: humility, integrity, friendship, perseverance, wisdom, courage, responsibility, honesty, and citizenship.
