All Hallows Eve

All Hallows Eve

We had kind of a haphazard Halloween with comings and goings at different times. Ellie had an invitation to go with her friend on their trick or treat, so I had to drive her over there right at 5:30, which meant I had to quickly grab a photo of her before she left, in her Axolotl costume. Then by the time I got back, Paul, Ruben and Alyssa had already taken off on their walkabout, so I missed taking a pic with them all together. Lyssy wore her blow-up Dinosaur costume from last year, Paul of course wore his Jester hat (it’s tradition!), and Ruben went as a Mariachi band guy.

When I drove up after dropping Ellie off at her friend’s house, Jacob was outside at his treat distribution station beside the back of the truck, so I sat with him there for a while, greeting the little trixters as they came around. Laurent came shortly after I got there, and went to join Paul and the kids on the walk about – wearing her costume, which she wore to work as well for the office costume contest. She was the Morton Salt girl! I was able to get pictures after they all got back home again – poor Ruben, he was so hot, his mustache was sliding off his lip and he was trying to hold it in place for the photo!

Jacob was able to get rid of almost that entire tamale pot of candy. To be fair, he is extremely generous and basically gives every kid a handful! After he came inside around 8pm, I took him on a food run and brought back some inexpensive Jack-In-The-Box burgers and chicken nuggets for the crew so they’d have something to eat besides candy before heading off to bed.

The kids who stayed home watched some kind of kids monster movie – I don’t remember which one, but they told me it was cute and not one of the gory ones.

And that was that. Another Halloween in the books! Next year I will try to be a trifle more organized, and maybe have some lights to string up around the truck so it will be a little more festive.
