YouTube, Self-Portrait, and Various Whatnots

School is underway, people are getting themselves into sports, and that leaves me with the joys of filling in all the forms for all the sportsers.

In addition to that, I’ve been grappling with a seemingly insurmountable insurance fiasco that had me first crashing out today, weeping at my own perceived stupidity, and then tackling insurance phone calls and texts with a fabulous support person and finally emailing the right person and then it was *instantly* solved.

Gratitude.

Side benefit: a teaching moment wherein I could show my kids that it’s possible to move through a meltdown and, through perseverance, succeed in the end.

I’ve also been working on my You tube channel, improving things here and there, learning a little bit more every day about how to do things better with thumbnails and descriptions, learning how to add and mix musical tracks with vocal recording. I expect to be much better at this in a couple of months if I keep up at this rate!

Here’s my latest offering:

Besides my deep dives into video production, I have also gotten back to the gym this week. I discovered, not for the first, or last time I expect, that doing two workouts in one day – bike in the morning and swimming at night – means no workout the next two days as I recover. Maybe I can go tomorrow again, but recovery takes longer at 58 than it did at 28, that’s for sure.

Today I had to try my first self portrait. I got the cutest pair of palazzo pants from my daughter and wanted to see how they looked on me (I really don’t have a full length mirror in the house). So I set up the camera on the tripod, figured out how to do the automatic timer, and took some photos. I suppose it was probably a total of 25 shots before I got it right, having to adjust the height of the camera several times. Next time I try this I will also set up the lights and do it properly, but it was a fun first effort.

It’s been several years since I tucked in a shirt. Not bad!
